Nigeria has been named the host nation for the 2021 WAFU Cup tournament scheduled for September 2021.

The 2021 WAFU Cup will be the third edition of the tournament.

This was confirmed on Tuesday when broadcast partners Fox Sports and WAFU (West African Football Union) Zones A and B revealed the host nations for both the 2019 and 2021 editions.

Senegal will host the 2019 edition of the WAFU Cup tournament billed for September 2019 and will be the first team from Zone A to achieve the feat.

Host nation Ghana won the inaugural edition of the WAFU Cup in 2017 beating rivals Nigeria 4-1 in the final.

WAFU Zone A: Cape Verde, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal, Sierra Leone.
