Nigeria Expresses Readiness To Host CAVB Zone 3 Clubs Championship

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has expressed its readiness to host the second edition of the Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB) Zone 3 Male and Female Clubs Championship scheduled to hold in Lagos between 14th and 19th April, 2019.

President of the Federation, Musa Nimrod said arrangements have been concluded to ensure that improvements are made on the lapses identified in the last edition in order to facilitate a successful hosting of the continental tournament.

“The organising and technical committees of the federation, as well as the secretariat, had visited and met with the management of University of Lagos to inspect the facilities while the board is putting finishing touches to other logistics with a view to improving on the lapses identified in the last edition,” Nimrod said.

Twenty-two male and female clubs from six countries will be participating in the week-long tournament with the host, Nigeria presenting the highest numbers of clubs with nine in total.

Representing Nigeria in the male category will be Nigeria Immigration, Nigeria Customs, Nigeria Civil Defence and Kano Pillars, while Nigeria Customs, Nigeria Immigration, Nigeria Civil Defence, Kada Emeralds and Benue Queens will be the country’s representatives in the female category.

Benin Republic will be represented by Finances in the male category while Entente will be flying the country’s flag in the female category.

Burkina Faso will have Sonapost competing in the male category while AS Douanes will participate in the female category.

Ghana Police will represent Ghana in the male and female categories while Niger Republic will have Gendarmerie and Police represent them in the male and female categories respectively.

Togo will have three clubs in the championship with AS OTR and Etoile Filante in the male category and AS OTR in the female category.

The clubs are expected to start arriving in Nigeria from 13th April, 2019.
