Nigeria Announce Readiness for African Badminton Championships with Final Team List

List of Badminton Players representing Nigeria at the African Badminton Championships

Eighteen players will represent Nigeria at the African Badminton Championships scheduled to hold at the Alfred Diete Spiff Civic Centre, Port Harcourt, Rivers State from April 26 to April 28.

Thirty (30) players including 16 men and 14 women from around the country had earlier been invited to camp for the All Africa Senior Badminton Championships and have been training since last month.

In the buildup to the Championships, a mascot for the competition was revealed and the team downsized.

Anuoluwapo Opeyori and Dorcas Adesokan who are rated second best in Africa respectively will lead Nigeria in the singles male and female categories while the pair of Anuoluwapo Opeyori and Godwin Olofuwa rated number 1 in the continent will lead Nigeria in the men’s double.

The Badminton Federation of Nigeria made the final team list available to busybuddiesng.com in a brief chat. The list includes:

Men: Anuoluwapo Opeyori, Godwin Olofua, Eneojo Abah, Clement Krobakpo, Habeeb Bello.Aliyu Shehu, Gideon Babalola, Kayode Mope, and Isaac Minaphee.

Women: Dorcas Adesokan, Deborah Ukeh, Peace Orji, Chinenye Ibere, Amin Christopher, Sofiat Obanisola, Ramatu Yakubu, Zainab Alabi, and Augusina Sunday.

George Shitta and Susan Udeh Agboola will assist Head Coach Benjamin Orakpo to guide the team throughout the competition.
