NFF Sack Manu Garba After Disastrous U17 World Cup Outing

Golden Eaglets coach, Manu Garba has been dismissed from his role following the team’s ouster to the Netherlands in the round of sixteen of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.

Nigeria lost 3-1 in the early hours of Wednesday to the European champions who’d only made the knockouts as one of four best third-placed teams from the group stages.

The coach was widely criticised for failing to plug a leaky defence that saw the team concede at least twice in all four games and ultimately led to their ouster.

Garba who coached five-time winners Nigeria to the title in 2013 had just a few weeks left on his two-year deal but would not be offered an extension and has been asked to vacate his position.

This was his third stint in the job after previous outings in 2013 and 2015.
