NCF President Yahaya Ukwenya Emerges Africa Cricket Association Vice Chairman

President of Nigeria Cricket Federation Prof. Yahaya Adam Ukwenya emerged Vice Chairman of the Africa Cricket Association (ACA) in an election conducted at the ACA Conference/Annual General Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday.

Nigeria’s Cricket boss, Ukwenya deputizes newly elected Chairman Ms Jackiejaan Mohammed of Cricket Kenya.

Under Ukwenya, Nigeria earned an ICC award for the best developing country in cricket not long after its Under-19 Cricket team qualified for a World Cup for the first time.

Other newly elected board members include: Development Director – Giriish Ramakrisnam (Botswana Cricket), Tournament Director – Mrs. Hester Khan (Cricket Namibia), Finance Director – Dipankar Sengupta (Mozambique Cricket Association), North West Africa Development Representative – Kwame Asare (President , Ghana Cricket Association), Central and Southern African Regional Development Representative – Vivek Gamesan (Malawi Cricket), East Africa Region Regional Development Representative – Eddie Balaba (Rwanda Cricket).

According to a press release by the body, “series of fruitful decisions on building partnership and embracing the global trends in the organisation and promotion of the game were reached,” as representatives of member countries resolved to ensure the progress of cricket in Africa.

It was also confirmed during the AGM that the proposed ACA Africa T20 Cup will hold in Kenya August – September 2019 with 8 teams in participation.

The tenure of the new board is expected to span for two years before another election.
