Jose Mourinho reveals he is not disappointed at being overlooked for the Real Madrid job and believes Zinedine Zidane is the ‘perfect solution’ for Real.

Despite Mourinho being heavily touted for the Bernabéu job, Zidane was reappointed as Madrid manager until 2022 earlier in the week replacing Santiago Solari.

“No, of course I’m not disappointed,” Mourinho said of Zidane’s appointment on El Chiringuito TV.

“I never talked about whether I would want to return to the position (as Madrid Coach) and I think, in my opinion, this is a perfect solution.

“Zidane has done magnificent things for the club over the past number of years, so it is perfect for him and perfect for the club.

“Now he has a new project, he can start afresh and prove to everyone how talented he is, so I wish him all the best.”

Jose Mourinho had earlier coached Real Madrid between 2010-2013 and isn’t seen as a player favourite after a tumultuous final season at the club.
