Mourinho Challenges Pogba To Transmit World Cup Form Into Club Performances

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has challenged France World Cup winner Paul Pogba to transmit his form at the just concluded tournament in Russia into his performances in the colours of the Red Devils ahead of the new season.

Pogba was influential as he helped France to win a second World Cup title with a 4-2 over fellow European side Croatia in the final.

The midfielder was on target for the Les Blues during the final clash played at the Luzhnicki Stadium on Sunday.

His manager is hoping he can transmit his form to club football having been criticised for his below-par performances for Manchester United at various times last season.

Mourinho spoke about Pogba at a news conference at UCLA on Tuesday.

In his words, Mourinho said: “To win the World Cup can only be a positive thing.”

“So many players didn’t have the opportunity to win and help their team enough. For Paul it is the first World Cup he goes and to be world champion can only be fantastic.

“I hope he understands why he was very good. That’s the point about his performance level and contribution to a winning team, is to understand why he was so good especially in the second part of the competition, where he was absolutely brilliant.” He concluded.
