Morocco Replace Kenya As CHAN 2018

Morocco has been installed as hosts for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The decision to unanimously give Morocco the hosting rights for the tournament ahead of Equatorial Guinea was confirmed earlier on Sunday by the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

The decision was taken at an emergency CAF executive committee meeting in Lagos, Nigeria.

The CHAN tournament is for locally-based players and the next edition is scheduled to take place in January and February 2018.

Third candidates, Ethiopia, were not considered by the football body after they didn’t provide a letter of guarantee from the country’s government.

With Morocco confirmed as CHAN 2018 hosts, Egypt will take their place. They had earlier defeated their North African rivals during the qualifiers.
