Mikel Obi Signs Two Year Contract with Former Turkish Super Lig Champions

Super Eagles Captain John Obi Mikel has signed for Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor. 

The 32-year-old Nigerian who is a free agent after parting company with Middlesbrough at the end of last season has signed a two-year contract for the Turkish top flight outfit. The contract includes an option to sign for a further year. 

Mikel is currently part of the Nigerian team featuring at the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt and sealed the deal after the three-time African Champions were beaten by unfancied Southern African island nation, Madagascar.

The former Chelsea man is reported to be set to earn €1.5 million for each of the seasons he features for the six-time Turkish league winners who also have Ogenyi Onazi on their books. 

Trabzonspor finished fourth in the league last season and will be taking part in the Europa League in the 2019/20 season.
