Michael Babatunde Confident Wydad Can Retain CAFCL Title

Former Super Eagles forward Michael Babatunde is certain that Wydad Casablanca can successfully defend their CAF Champions League (CAFCL) title.

The 25-year-old was hugely influential in the holders’ 2-0 win over Guinean side Horoya in a Matchday 4 clash on Saturday night.

He provided the assist for the second goal scored by Mohamed Ounajem on 18 minutes to add to the 12th minute opener from Cheick Comara.

With the victory, the Moroccan club move clear at the top of Group C with eight points ahead of Horoya (five points), Mamelodi Sundowns (five points) and Togo-Port (three points).

Babatunde who was speaking with Complete Sports about his club’s CAFCL campaign said: “We are close to making it to the [quarterfinals] again but we still need to be consistent.”

“We have a good chance to win this tournament again but we must work harder.

“I’m enjoying my football again and I hope to win this Cup with Wydad.” He concluded.
