Enyimba captain Mfon Udoh has expressed happiness with his contribution to the team’s 1-0 victory over CARA Brazzaville in a CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) clash on Wednesday evening.
The two-time African champions needed to win at the newly rejuvenated Enyimba Stadium to be sure of a quarterfinal spot and they left it late until the 94th minute when Flying Eagles forward Wasiu Alalade scored from close range to give the three points thus sending the team into the first knockout stage.
The Matchday 6 clash was Enyimba’s first game at the match venue for three years.
Mfon Udoh spoke about the game in a chat with footballlive, he said: “It was full of joy, with victory songs everywhere and the fans were happy, Aba was happy and Nigeria was happy so we give glory to God the victory.”
The former Akwa United striker hit the crossbar twice and the second effort led to the lone goal from Alalade.
On hitting the crossbar twice, he said: “Honestly I would have been glad to get my name on the scoresheet but the assist was good as well.”
