MFM Get’s 50 Million Naira Backing from Lagos State Government

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club (MFM FC) have received a 50 million Naira boost from the Lagos State government ahead of the 2018 season, where they will be representing Nigeria in the CAF Champions League.

The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode made the pledge to the Lagos based team as he hosted them at the State House in Lagos on Wednesday.

The club, through their Director Of Sports Godwin Enakhena had earlier solicited for support from the Lagos State Government, asking for infrastructural and financial support. He asked for support for upgrading the Agege Stadium – which is currently being used by the club at no cost – to standards acceptable to host CAF club football. Enakhena also requested that the government supports the club financially in executing their matches.

Governor Ambode made the commitment to give every member of the team (players and officials) 25 million Naira, and an extra 25 million Naira was given to the team for logistics, facilities and equipments as they execute their continental games.

“It’s a solid achievement from this team to put Lagos State back on the football map, and they deserve to be celebrated”

“We pledge our support to the team as they compete on the continent”

“We are going to make sure the Agege Stadium is certified by CAF. We will also make sure our other stadiums in Lagos are in good condition.”, Ambode said

MFM earned the right to represent Nigeria in the 2018 CAF Champions League after finishing second in last season’s NPFL; their highest ever position.
