Mexico Shock World Champions Germany In Group F Opener

Mexico produced the biggest shock of the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup till date following their 1-0 win over world champions Germany in the opening match in Group F.

Hirving Lozano was the hero for the two-time World Cup hosts as he netted the only goal of the game with ten first half minutes left to give Mexico an important win.

The defeat suffered by Germany represents the 6th time a world champion has recorded defeat in their opening match at the World Cup after Italy (1950), Argentina (1982 and 1990), France (2002) and Spain (2014).

Mexico top Group F as a result of the defeat ahead of the second group game between South Korea and Switzerland, while world champions Germany occupy bottom spot.
