Manchester City Defender To See Specialist Over ‘Troublesome’ Knee Problem

Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy will see a knee specialist in Barcelona over the knee injury he sustained over the weekend.

The French international was expected to return to training on Monday as confirmed by manager Pep Guardiola but that didn’t happen as the injury was more severe than first thought.

Mendy was substituted after 29 minutes of his team’s 5-0 win over London club Crystal Palace in the English Premier League (EPL).

The 23-year old joined Manchester City from French side AS Monaco in the summer in a £52m deal and has already produced a series of impressive performances in the colours of the Citizens.

Mendy will travel to see Barcelona-based knee specialist Ramon Cugat, who is a close friend of Guardiola. Cugat treated City duo Kevin De Bruyne and club captain Vincent Kompany last season.
