Maitland-Niles Pens New Long-Term Contract With The Gunners

Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles has signed a new long-term contract with the Gunners.

This was confirmed by the North London club earlier on Tuesday afternoon.

The 20-year-old joined the Arsenal academy at the age and had to wait patiently for his opportunity with the first team.

Maitland-Niles became the 2nd youngest player to represent Arsenal when he came on as a second half substitute against Galatasaray in 2014 at the age of 17 years and 102 days before making his Premier League debut against North East giants Newcastle United four days later.

The junior England international was farmed out on a season-long loan to Ipswich Town for the 2015/16 season before making his return to the Emirates Stadium at the end of his spell.

He thereafter turned out to be an important squad member at the club last season and went on to make 28 appearances under former manager Arsene Wenger.

Mainland-Niles will wear the no. 15 shirt for next season having previously worn the number 30 jersey.
