Maikaba Backs ‘Special’ Akwa United To Overcome Tough Banjul Hawks Test

Akwa United head coach Abdu Maikaba is optimistic about his side’s chances against hosts Banjul Hawks ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) second leg clash on Wednesday evening.

Hawks stunned Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium by two goals to one to put themselves in a fantastic position ahead of the second leg.

Despite the need to score at least two goals in Banjul, Maikaba is upbeat about the game.

In his words via Tribune, Maikaba revealed that there is something special about the team. He said: “I have been in football for many years and in all those years, I have worked with different sets of players under different management. But there is something special about Akwa United. Everyone is fully committed and dedicated towards the success of the team at all times.”

“We were surprised with the result in Uyo, but, we know that no two matches are the same. The game will be decided after the second leg on Wednesday, so the tie is still alive and we have 90 minutes to decide our fate.” he concluded.
