Mahrez Closes In On £60m Move To Manchester City

Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez is on the verge of securing a big money move to Manchester City from fellow Premier League side Leicester City.

According to Sky Sports, the 27-year-old will undergo his Manchester City medicals later this week after both clubs agreed a £60m deal for him despite the fact that it was a long way off Leicester City’s £80m valuation.

Mahrez had earlier seen a transfer to Manchester City collapse on the final day of the last transfer window in January.

The Foxes’ refusal to sell him during the January transfer window prompted him to go on strike.

He missed two games in the process but he later returned to play an important role as Leicester City finish in the top 10 on the Premier League table at the end of the season.

Riyad Mahrez first requested for a transfer away from the King Power Stadium last summer and three AS Roma offers were rejected as the club turned down his request.

The Algerian star is now set to finally get his wish though he is still being expected to report to training next week after he was given some time off for featuring in some international games last month.

He has been a massive hit at Leicester City after playing a crucial role in their Premier League title-winning season (2015/16) scoring 17 times.

Mahrez, who also won the PFA Player of the Season, joined the Foxes in 2014 from French side Le Havre whom they paid £400,000 for his services.
