Madagascar Withdraw From South Africa Friendly

Madagascar’s senior men’s national football team have withdrawn from the international friendly against South Africa which was billed for Saturday, September 7, after they were selected as a back up for Zambia.

The South Africa Football Association (SAFA) made the announcement on Thursday, just after Bafana Bafana finished their afternoon training session in preparation for the encounter.

Bafana Bafana were scheduled to face the Chipolopolo of Zambia during the international break, however, in the spate of violence that erupted against foreign nationals in the cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria, the Football Association of Zambia pulled out of the friendly in protest.

The Barea of Madagascar were one of the break out teams at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt in July, where the made the quarterfinals in their first appearance at the continental showpiece.
