Lyon Players Dominate Best FIFA Women’s Player Award Shortlist

Players of French women’s side Olympique Lyon dominated the 10-man shortlist for this year’s Best FIFA Women’s Player released earlier on Tuesday.

Six Lyon players made the list revealed by world football’s governing body, FIFA.

Lucy Bronze (England), Ada Hegerberg (Norway), Dzsenifer Marozsan (Germany), Saki Kumagai (Japan) and the French duo of Amandine Henry and Wendie Renard played prominent roles as Lyon won French league and Champions League double last season.

Other nominees on the list include Samantha Kerr (Perth Glory/Chicago Red Stars and Australia), Martha (Orlando Pride and Brazil), Pernille Harder (VFL Wolfsburg and Denmark) and Megan Rapinoe (Seattle Reign and USA).

The recipient will be revealed at the awards ceremony scheduled for London on September 24.
