Lukaku Returns To Manchester United Training

Romelu Lukaku has returned to Manchester United training with their medical staff still assessing the Belgian ahead of Sunday’s derby against Manchester City, according to Jose Mourinho.

Lukaku missed United’s last two games – late comebacks on the road against Bournemouth and Juventus – through injury.

Mourinho, speaking at his Friday news conference, revealed: “Lukaku is training with the team this morning.

“If the answer is positive – and we have of course one more session tomorrow – he is ready. In this moment, I can only say that he trains with the team.”

Lukaku was dropped by Mourinho in the 2-1 win against his former side Everton at Old Trafford two weeks ago – the last game he featured in before sustaining the injury.

Mourinho, speaking after United’s 1-0 home defeat to Juventus last month, admitted Lukaku was low on confidence.

Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford have deputised up front for the Belgium International and fans have called for Lukaku to remain out of the starting XI even if he is deemed fit.

Mourinho then told MUTV that they bring “no new injuries” from their midweek 2-1 Champions League victory over Juventus in Turin.

United face city rivals Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday with victory pushing them closer to the top four.
