Lookman Scores, Aina Solid As Fulham, Sheffield Share Spoils

Ademola Lookman scored a beauty on his full debut for Fulham and compatriot Ola Aina was on for the entirety of the game as the Cottagers were held by Sheffield United with both sides earning their first point of the 2020-21 Premier League season.

Lookman, was making his first start after debuting from the bench in the 1-0 loss to Wolves just hours after his deadline day loan move from RB Leipzig. Aina, on loan from Torino, also made his debut in that loss albeit he was on from the start and lasted the whole game.

Newly-promoted Fulham were without a point from their opening four games heading into the encounter at Bramall Lane with their hosts also winless since the start of the campaign.

Cottagers manager Scott Parker must have thought their fortune was about to change when they were awarded a 57th minute penalty after Blades defender Jack Robinson handled in the box.

But Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic ballooned his effort off target to let the Blades off the hook.

Lookman, 22, who has pledged allegiance to the Super Eagles, however, ensured the miss was forgotten twenty minutes later when he finished into the top corner after riding a wave of challenges.

There was to be a further twist late on as the unlucky Mitrovic was penalised by VAR for a high boot in the box with substitute Billy Sharp dispatching the resultant spot kick to restore parity.

The excellent Lookman nearly fashioned a winner at the death but his inviting cross was nodded over by Mitrovic as both sided settled for the draw that put them on the board for the first time this season.
