Ligue 1 Review (Saturday): Monaco Begin League Campaign With Tough Nantes Win

French giants AS Monaco got their league campaign off to a great start with an impressive 3-1 win at Nantes on Saturday.

All the four goals were scored within the last twenty-one minutes of the game.

Portuguese forward Rony Lopes broke the deadlock for Monaco on 69 minutes before the duo of Stevan Jovetic and star striker Radamel Falcao hit the back of the net within three minutes to give the 2016/17 champions a 3-0 lead.

Argentine forward Emiliano Sala pulled one back for the hosts in added time but it proved to be mere consolation for Miguel Cardoso’s men.

With the win, Monaco go joint top on the league table alongside Lille and behind leaders Olympique Marseille, who thrashed Toulouse 4-0 at the Stade Velodrome on Friday night.
