Ligue 1 Review: PSG Thrash Strasbourg To Restore 12-Point Lead

French Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint Germain (PSG) have restored their lead at the top of the table to 12 points following the 5-2 thrashing they handed out to their visitors Racing Strasbourg on Saturday evening.

PSG were hoping to use the Strasbourg game to recover from Wednesday’s disappointing UEFA Champions League (UCL) round of 16 loss to Real Madrid but they were further dealt a blow when Jean-Eudes Aholou gave the away side a shock 6th minute lead.

However, they bounced back quickly courtesy three first half goals from Julian Draxler, Neymar and Angel Di Maria.

Stephane Bahoken pulled a goal back to 3-2 thus handing Strasbourg little hopes of getting something from the game but further goals for from Edinson Cavani (2) took the game away from them completely for a 5-2 PSG victory.

Champions AS Monaco had earlier trimmed the lead to nine points on Friday night but the Strasbourg win ensured that the lead was back to 12 points.
