Ligue 1 Review: PSG Stretch Lead With Nice Win As Lyon Edge Battle Of The Olympiques

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) have stretched their lead at the top of the French Ligue 1 table to 17 points following their 2-1 comeback victory at Nice in what was a Matchday 30 clash on Sunday afternoon.

Nice took the lead through Allan Saint-Maximin in the 17th minute only for the visitors to reply almost immediately courtesy Angel Di Maria’s 21st minute strike before Brazilian defender Dani Alves sealed the points for his capital club eight minutes from time.

In the pick of the other games on Sunday, Lyon edged Marseille 3-2 away from home in the battle of the Olympiques with former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay scoring the winning goal on the stroke of fulltime.

An Adil Rami own goal and a Hossem Aouar strike had overturned Rolando’s 31st minute winner before Kostas Mitroglou’s equaliser for the home side paved the way for the late heartbreak handed to them.

The late goal moves Lyon to within two points of Marseille in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification next season.
