Ligue 1 Review: Monaco Produce Comeback Win To Narrow Gap On PSG As Nice Edge Struggling Lille With Late Goal

French champions AS Monaco have moved to within 11 points of Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint Germain (PSG) after they came from behind to beat visiting Bordeaux 2-1 at home in their Matchday 28 clash on Friday night.

The visitors took a surprising lead through Argentine player Valentin Vada in the 32nd minute but Monaco fought back on the stroke of halftime through Stefan Jovetic before in-form Rony Lopes scored the winning goal in the second half to hand his side the three points at stake.

Monaco are up to 60 points and 11 points away from PSG (71 points) while Bordeaux (36 points) drop one place from 8th to 9th spot.

In the other game on Friday night, Italian international striker Mario Balotelli and Wylan Cyprien (80th minute strike) scored either side of halftime and Araujo’s goal for Lille to help Nice beat the former champions at home.

Nice move above Bordeaux and Stade Rennes from 9th to 7th spot as a result of the win while Lille (27 points) stay second from bottom and are one point away from the last place outside the relegation zone presently occupied by Angers (28 points).
