Lowly Levante produced one of the best performances in the history of the club earlier on Sunday night after they stunned Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona 5-4 at home in what was their Matchday 37 clash.
Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Boateng scored twice to hand Levante a 2-0 lead as at the half hour mark only Philippe Coutinho to pull one back for a Messi-less Barcelona side just before halftime.
The hosts thereafter punished a lacklustre Barcelona three times at the start of the second half through a brace from Enis Bardhi either side of the impressive Boateng’s hattrick goal as the champions go 5-1 down.
Barcelona, however, fought their way back into the game with two goals from Coutinho to complete his hattrick before Suarez pulled the scoreline back to 5-4 from the penalty spot in the last 20 minutes to setup a grandstand finish but Levante held on surprisingly thus handing the league leaders a shocking first defeat of the season.
In the other game played on Sunday, Barcelona’s catalan rivals Espanyol thrashed bottom club Malaga 4-1 in their final home league game of the season.
