Late Camara Strike Denies Monaco Top Spot Chance

Senegal international forward Souleymane Camara scored on the stroke of fulltime to earn his Montpellier side a valuable point at the home of French champions AS Monaco.

In-form striker Radamel Falcao gave the hosts a 38th minute to put his team on the way to finishing the day at the top of the French Ligue 1 table before Camara’s intervention put paid to that. Falcao has now scored 12 league goals this season.

Montpellier have now recorded two successive draws against the top two from last season after their goalless draw with league leaders Paris Saint Germain (PSG) on Matchday 7.

Their latest draw takes the former French champions three places up the table from 13th to 10th while Monaco stay in second spot on goal difference with 19 points though PSG could stretch their advantage to three points if they beat third-placed Bordeaux.
