Lagos Government Pledges Support For WNFF HOS Football Festival

Western Nigeria Football Forum (WNFF) Heads Of Service Football Festival

The Lagos State government has pledged its support for the maiden edition of the Western Nigeria Football Forum (WNFF) Heads Of Service Football Festival.

Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat gave the government’s assurances during the courtesy call on him by the leadership of WNFF and Main Organising Committee for the Football Festival.

Hamzat, having commended the initiative said that he anticipates a return to the glory days of IICC and Leventis United when the south-west reigned supreme in Nigerian football.

Speaking further, Hamzat said the State is ready for the games and expressed confidence that the Football Festival will foster unity among the South Western States and also boost tourism.

In his speech, NFF 1st Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi thanked the Deputy Governor for taking time out of his busy schedule to host the WNFF.

Akinwunmi explained that the HOS Football Festival is designed to serve as a model for sport development not only in the south-west zone but in the entire country.

He added that the idea behind the Festival was to boost cordial relationships between the states in the zone and help in the development of the game.

The Head of Service, Lagos State Muri Okunola who was represented by the permanent secretary, HOS Office, Mr Samson Ajibade assured the committee of the readiness of the State to participate at the festival.

He added that the current administration is always willing to go along with positive ideas that will not only boost tourism but impact the wellbeing of the civil servants of the State.
