Catalonia side Girona continue to punch above their level in what’s their debut Spanish La Liga season with the latest win coming against Espanyol in the Catalan Derby on Monday night.

David Timor Copovi netted the only goal of the game on the stroke of halftime to give his side a priceless 1-0 at the home of their rivals.

The first ever win over Espanyol was more than enough for Girona to move into the top 10 on the league table with 20 points (they move four places from 13th to 9th spot).

Espanyol stay four points above the relegation zone in 16th position with 16 points.
