La Liga Review: Valencia Overpower Alaves To Secure Third Spot Ahead Of Real Madrid

Valencia have leapfrogged Spanish La Liga champions Real Madrid into third place after they saw off Alaves 3-1 in what was a Matchday 29 clash played at the Mestalla on Saturday.

In-form Spanish striker Rodrigo and his Italian counterpart Simone Zaza gave the hosts a 2-0 at halftime before Ruben Sobrino pulled one back only for a Victor Laguardia own goal to wrap up the points for Marcelino’s men.

The win was enough to take Valencia (59 points) above Real Madrid (57 points) into 3rd spot and just five points off Atletico Madrid (64 points) in 2nd position.
