Real Sociedad have plunged Deportivo La Coruna into deeper relegation troubles after they handed out a 5-9 thrashing to their visitors at the San Sebastian in Anoeta in a week 22 Spanish La Liga clash on Friday night.

Star striker Willian Jose gave the home side a well deserved 1-0 lead at the break before four second half goals from Asier Illaramendi (2), Sergio Canales and Aritz Elustondo made it a comprehensive victory for the Basque side.

The win takes Real Sociedad (26 points) nine points clear of the relegation as they move from 15th to 14th while Deportivo La Coruna stay in the bottom three in 18th spot with 17 points only from the first 22 league games of the season.

It’s not all doom and gloom for Deportivo La Coruna as they are still two points from the last non-relegation spot (17th) occupied by Alaves (19 points).
