Real Madrid have narrowed the gap on city rivals Atletico Madrid to one point following their 2-1 win over 10-man Leganes in their Spanish La Liga Matchday 35 clash at the Estadio Santiago Bernebeu.

A much changed lineup with the UEFA Champions League (UCL) semifinal 2nd leg clash against Bayern Munich on Tuesday in mind took a 2-0 lead at halftime through goals from Gareth Bale and Borja Mayoral before Darko Brasanac pulled one back for the visitors but any hopes of earning a creditable draw disappeared after Gabriel was sent off just before the final whistle.

The win takes Real Madrid (71 points) to within one point of Atletico Madrid (72 points) who travel to play Alaves on Sunday afternoon.
