Lionel Messi produced a sensational performance as he netted a hattrick to help his Barcelona side secure the Spanish La Liga title with the 4-2 win at Deportivo La Coruna in a Matchday 35 clash on Sunday night.
Former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho gave Barcelona the lead before Messi doubled the advantage only for the hosts to fightback through Lucas Perez and Emre Colak but two late goals from Messi proved to be decisive thus handing the Catalan giants a 4-2 victory.
The win ensured that Barcelona (85 points) secure a 7th league title in 10 years as well as a 25th title in total while Clarence Seedorf’s Deportivo La Coruna (28 points and 18th spot) suffer relegation and will join Malaga and Las Palmas in the Segunda Division.
