Sevilla have ended a wretched run of seven games without victory by beating Real Sociedad 1-0 at home in a Spanish La Liga Matchday 36 clash played at the Ramon Pizjuan Stadium on Friday night.

Argentine midfielder Ever Banega was the hero for the hosts as he scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot on 47 minutes to gift his team the win.

The victory was able to push Sevilla (51 points) above Girona and Getafe into 7th spot while Real Sociedad stay in 10th spot with 46 points as the race for UEFA Europa League (UEL) hots up.
