La Liga Review: Deportivo’s Survival Hopes Falter In Espanyol Draw

Fallen Spanish La Liga giants Deportivo La Coruna were forced to a disappointing goalless draw at home to Espanyol in their Matchday 25 clash as they failed in the bid to really put pressure on relegation rivals Levante in the race for survival.

Clarence Seedorf’s team dominated proceedings but could not make it count against their Catalan opponents.

The draw was, however, enough to move Deportivo (18 points) from second bottom (19th spot) to third bottom (18th spot) but they fail to really close the gap on Levante (20 points) in the last place outside the relegation zone (17th).

On the other hand, Espanyol (28 points) move above Alaves into 15th position as they are now ten points clear of the last relegation place, which is presently occupied by their opponents Deportivo La Coruna.
