La Liga Review: Barcelona Extend Lead With Bilbao Win; Ronaldo Hits 50th Career Hattrick

Barcelona have extended the lead at the top of the Spanish La Liga table to eleven points following their 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao at the Nou Camp on Sunday.

First half goals from Paco Alcacer and Lionel Messi (25th league goal) secured the win for the Blaugrana as they capitalised on the slip up from nearest challengers Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid were beaten 2-1 by Villareal with Turkish international forward Enes Unal netting two times in the last eight minutes to overturn Antoine Griezmann’s 20th minute strike from the spot.

In the pick of the other games on Sunday, Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo scored four goals as his Real Madrid side defeated Girona 6-3 at the Estadio Santiago Bernebeu.
