Kwara State To Host U21 Handball Championships

The National U18 and 21 Handball Championships will be hosted by Kwara state in 2020, says Chairman Kwara state Handball Association, Emmanuel Olubiyo.

Olubiyo made the revelation when the Deputy Governor, Kayode Alabi and the recently appointed commissioner for sports, Joana Kolo visited the handball teams.

“Kwara state has been given the hosting right for the U18 and 21 championships. You should not forget that we are the defending champions in the women’s U21 category and settled for silver in the men’s category after losing to only Lagos state.” He said.

Kwara state emerged champions in the female category of the 2019 National Handball Championships in Lagos in March.

The female team was terrific in Yaba as Taye Ibrahim, Adio Aishat and Idowu Abdulrazak carted away the Most Valuable Player, best goalkeeper and highest goal scorer awards respectively.

However, Lagos state beat Team Kwara to emerge victorious in the U21 Male category.

This year’s edition also featured an U18 male and female category in which Mindscope Academy and Kogi state emerged victorious respectively.
