Kepa Howler Costly As Mane Double Powers Liverpool Past Chelsea

Senegal forward Sadio Mane scored a second-half brace as champions Liverpool beat 10-man Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Defender Andreas Christensen was sent off on the stroke of halftime after he illegally stopped Mane who was through on goal.

Mane opened his account within five minutes of the restart – heading in from Roberto Firmino’s lifted cross.

The forward added a second when Kepa Arrizabalaga passed straight to him in the box.

Blues’ new signing Timo Werner won a penalty in the second half when he was tripped by Liverpool debutant Thiago Alcantara – signed from Bayern Munich earlier this week – but goalkeeper Alisson made a smart save low to his left to deny Jorginho from the spot.

The win gives the defending champions two wins from two after the opening day victory against Leeds while Chelsea have have their first defeat of the season following a victory at Brighton last week.
