Nigeria won a total of three medals – two gold and one bronze – at the Ufak Zone 3 Championships in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire which held at the weekend.
Olorunmbe Benjamin won gold in the individual Kata event while Ifeanyi Ogene clinched gold in the 67kg event. Fagboro Agboola, Olorunmbe Benjamin and Fagboro Dimeji then teamed up to win bronze in the Kata team event.
The tournament which held between 7th to 12th May 2019, had eight participating teams from West Africa: Ghana, Togo, Benin, Liberia, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and hosts, Cote d’Ivoire.
President of the Nigeria Karate Federation (NKF) who doubles as Deputy Governor of Nasarawa state, Mr. Silas Agara lauded members of the Federation’s board for their unflinching support to ensure a successful championship.
Agara also highlighted the efforts of the Minister of Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung in ensuring the Federation soar to greater heights.
