Former Super Eagles captain Kanu Nwankwo has debunked rumours of him venturing into Nigerian Politics.
The former Arsenal and Inter Milan striker was reacting to the news of his presidential ambition in a chat with Goal.com.
Goal had earlier revealed an April Fool’s joke about him declaring his intention to follow in the footsteps of Liberian president George Weah by running for President during next year’s elections.
The joke was taken serious by several fans and that prompted him to deny any presidential ambition.
In his words, Kanu said: “This is meant to be a joke but people haven’t seen it that way.”
“I think there is a need to inform them that it is just April Fool.
“My immediate concern is using my vast contacts and experience to develop the Nigerian youth through sports.
“I also want to keep saving lives through the Kanu Heart Foundation.” he concluded.
