Junior Ajayi Reveals Arsenal Ambition

New Super Eagles invitee Junior Ajayi has stated that he would like to play for English Premier League (EPL) side Arsenal.

Ajayi, 22, made this known in a chat with Egyptian TV Channel CBC Extra as he also confirmed that North London team is his favourite club.

The former 3SC striker also named Arsenal legend Thierry Henry as his favourite player before revealing that Egypt legend Mohamed Abou-Treika is his role model in Egypt.

While speaking about Abou-Treika, Ajayi said: “He has magical touches and skills. I used to watch him with Egypt in the African Cup of Nation when I was in Nigeria and I like him very much.”

On possible contract renewal, Ajayi said: “I don’t mind renewing with Al Ahly.”

“I still have a couple of years left in my contract but I would be happy if Al Ahly want to renew my contract.”

Junior Ajayi joined Al Ahly in 2016 and he currently has two years left on his contract.

On plying his trade outside Africa, he said: “I don’t know what will happen in the future. I am currently focused on Al Ahly to accomplish our goals and I’m happy to be at one of Africa’s greatest clubs.”

On Al Ahly’s chances in the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) after the club qualified for the group stage, the former Nigeria U23 striker said: “We are better this season than last one in the Champions League. We understand it’s a tough mission, but we will work on winning the title for the fans as we know how important the competition means.”

He went on to name Abdallah El-Said as one of the best players in Egypt. In his words, Junior Ajayi said: “El-Said is a smart and amazing player. There are also other players like Ayman Hefny and a long list of players.”
