Super Eagles’ prospect Joshua Orobosa Zirkzee made the Bundesliga Team of The Week after turning up in brilliant fashion for Bayern Munich in their 6-0 away win against Hoffenheim.

Zirkzee scored the third of the evening in the 15th minute of the encounter to join Serge Gnabry, Joshua Kimmich, and Philippe Coutinho on the score sheet.

The 18-year-old forward was making his first start for Bayern Munich and was a replacement for Lewandowski who was ruled out due to injury for four weeks.

Coach Hansi Flick explained his reason for trusting the Youth to fill Lewandowski’s shoes ahead of other forwards in the team.

“Joshua’s trained well and he’s showed in training that he’s got good quality and is a good finisher. He can hold the ball up well and has the physicality to do so, which is important when things are tight up top. So that was our thinking, to make a like-for-like replacement [for Lewandowski]. It was good.” Flick said.

Bundesliga announced Zirkzee as one of 11 players who were outstanding in Germany’s topflight league for the week.

He has been one of the revelations of the season netting three goals in just four league games for the German champions and has taken his goals tally to 11 in 28 appearances in all competitions.

The Nigerian Football Federation alongside Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr are said to be in discussions with the Dutch youth player to adorn the green-white-green according to France Football.

However, BusybuddiesNG.com understands Netherlands’ men senior national team are on the trail for Zirkzee who has registered three goals in just 101 minutes of action spread across four games, giving him a better goals-per-minute ratio (34) even than Lewandowski himself (86) and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland (47).
