John Ogu Set For Hapoel Beer Sheva Return

Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu has promised to return to former club Hapoel Beer Sheva to visit fans of the Israeli side who seemingly are yet to get over his departure.

The 31-year-old midfielder spent five years at the club before departing in the summer of 2019.

In his time at the club, Ogu developed a cult following as his full-blooded approach made him a fan favourite.

His departure after the expiration of his contract in 2019 hit followers of the club hard and Ogu was visibly overcome with emotion weeping profusely after his final appearance for the Israeli side.

He remained without a club following the conclusion of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations where he won bronze as part of the Super Eagles squad to Egypt.

He eventually secured a move to Saudi Arabia side Al-Adalh FC and appears to have settled in superbly making five appearances in all competitions so far.

Fans of Hapoel, however, continue to pine for the much-loved midfielder and have pleaded with him to pay them a visit in the future.

“John, when [will you] come to visit your fans from [Hapoel Beer Sheva],” a fan of the club enquired of Ogu on Twitter.

“If you knew who much fans miss your game you will be very proud,” the fan added.

“Someday I definitely will come . I miss y’all,” Ogu replied.

Ogu played 193 games for the Israeli side scoring 18 goals and setting up another 10 in all competitions.
