John Obuh: Joining Akwa United Is A Dream Come True (AUDIO)

Veteran tactician John Obuh has described his latest appointment as head coach of Akwa United as a dream come true.

The former Rangers and Kwara United coach was unveiled by The Promise Keepers on Monday in a colourful ceremony at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium Uyo, along with his assistant Duke Udi and 15 new players.

In a chat with www.busybuddiesng.com, the former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles coach, who signed a one-year deal with the two-time Aiteo Cup champions, disclosed that he didn’t think twice about accepting the offer.

“Akwa United has been my dream club to coach,” the 59-year-old said. “To be honest with you, for the past 10 years I have always been linked with the club, even when I have not had any discussion with them.

“From wherever I was coaching, they will always write in the papers that ‘Obuh is part of the shortlisted names to take over Akwa United’. I have always been linked to them; it’s been my wish to coach them.

“So, as soon as the team came for me, I had to grab it with my both hands.”

Obuh will start life at Akwa United with an away trip to Warri Wolves on Match Day 1 of the 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday, 3 November.
