Jamilu Collins Assists Paderborn Win To Ease Relegation Fears

Jamilu Collins put on an excellent display to help Bundesliga bottom side Paderborn earn a valuable 2-1 home win over Eintracht Frankfurt win on Sunday to boost their survival hopes.

The 25-year-old Super Eagles left-back set up midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri for Paderborn’s opener in the ninth minute before Sebastian Schonlau put the hosts firmly in the driving seat with a second goal after 41 minutes.

Frankfurt’s Dutch striker Bas Dost pulled a late goal back, but Paderborn held on for only their third league win this season to leave them five points from safety as the Bundesliga embarks on a midseason break.

Collins, who earned a booking for a foul in the 82nd minute has featured in 16 of 17 league matches for newly promoted Paderborn this season and has notched up a goal and two assists.

Paderborn will host 6th placed Bayer Leverkusen on 19 January when the Bundesliga resumes from its midseason recess.
