IWBF: Team Nigeria To Participate In The Tournament In South Africa

Team Nigeria’s (men and women) wheelchair basketball teams will feature in the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Africa World Championship Qualifiers 2017 scheduled for South Africa next month.

The 7-day qualifiers, to be hosted by WheelChair Basketball South Africa, will take place at the Tongaat Indoor Sports Centre, KwaZulu-Natal from Saturday, November 18.

The tournament will feature 8 African teams in the men’s section and 4 African teams in the women’s section. They will compete for only one spot for each section ahead of the world tournament scheduled for Hamburg, Germany in 2018.

In the men’s section, Nigeria will face Ghana, Egypt and defending champions Algeria in Pool B, while host South Africa will face Morocco, Angola and Zimbabwe in Pool A.

In the women`s section, Nigeria will compete against Algeria, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The finals of the tournament will hold on the 24th November, where the maiden 3×3 ActionBall Knockout Continental Challenge will be launched.
