ITF World Tour: N9M Up For Grabs At Tombim Open In Abuja

The total prize money of Nine Million Naira (#9,000,000) will be awarded at the Tombim Open – the opening tournament of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tour scheduled to hold at the National Tennis Centre, Abuja.

Players from all over the world will compete for a share of the $25,000 (N9,000,000), the official website of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) stated in a release on Monday.

In the men’s event, the final champion will cart away with a cheque of N1,080,000 ($3,000), while the losing finalist will be consoled with N612,000 ($1,700).

Players who are able to reach the semifinals will get Three Hundred and Ninety Six Thousand Naira (N396,000) while quarter finalists will receive the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Two Thousand (N252,000) each. Second rounders will pocket N180,000 while players who suffer a first round exit will earn Hundred and Eight Thousand (N108,000).

Champions at the doubles events will get N432,000 ($1,200) while the runner-up gets N252,000 ($700).

N288,000 ($800) will be split between semifinalists, and the same amount will be shared amongst quarter finalists. Second rounders, too, will share N288,000.

For the qualifying, players who make it past the first round get N25,200 ($70) each, while second round winners receive N48,600 ($135) each.

The qualifying round for the Tombim Open commences on Monday, 8 April – 9th April, while main draw action will begin on Wednesday, 9 -14 April at the National Tennis Centre, Abuja.
