Iranian Handball Instructor Arrives Nigeria For IOC/IHF Technical Course

The Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) has announced an intensive six-day training programme for selected handball officials to be facilitated jointly with the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and the International Olympic Committee between 25-30 June in Abuja.

The training programme which is an International Handball Federation (IHF) Olympic Solidarity level 3 certified course will be handled by IHF instructor Alireza Habibi from Iran.

According to a statement from the HFN, Mr. Habibi arrived in Nigeria last night and was received today at the offices of the Federation by Secretary-General Maigidasanma Mohammed who was accompanied by NOC Desk Officer Mr. Dan Garba. Together, they inspected the Velodrome at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, venue of the training course.

HFN President, Mr. Samuel Ocheho said programmes of this nature are a major part of the Federation’s commitment to encourage growth in the sport through continuous investment in building capacity for officials and coaches. 

“This training is a major pointer to our manifesto as a body. It also means that we would ensure we train the technical people for more effectiveness and knowledge upgrade

“Without technical know-how, we cannot grow, hence the constant focus on upgrading our technical team,” Ocheho said.
