Inter Hold Off Sampdoria To Go Top In Serie A

Inter Milan have gone to the top of the table in the Italian Serie A after they held off stubborn Sampdoria in a 3-2 win at the San Siro in what was a Matchday 10 league clash.

The home side raced to a 3-0 lead through goals from Slovakian defender Milan Skirinar and a brace from star striker Mauro Icardi to take his tally to 10 goals in the league. Sampdoria however showed why they had lost just one game before their encounter with two goals from Dawid Kownacki and Fabio Quagliarelia but Inter survived the scare to edge the game 3-2.

The victory ensured that Inter Milan finished the day at the top as the leapfrogged Napoli with 26 points and also maintain their unbeaten start to the season though Maurizio Sarri’s men can go back to the summit with a win at Genoa later on Wednesday. On the other hand, Sampdoria stay in 6th position with 17 points ahead of the remaining set of fixtures for Matchday 10.
