Inter Close Gap On Leaders Napoli With Hellas Verona Victory

Inter Milan have narrowed the gap on Italian Serie A leaders Napoli to two points after they secured a hard fought 2-1 win at struggling Hellas Verona.

Going into the game, Inter Milan knew that only a win would put their title challenge firmly back on track and that resolve led to a first half strike from Spanish midfielder Borja Valero but the home side fought back fourteen minutes after the break through substitute Giampaolo Pazzini’s penalty.

It didn’t however take long for the visitors to edge ahead once again as Croatian international Ivan Perisic scored eight minutes after Pazzini’s penalty to give Inter a 2-1 lead. Luciano Spaletti’s team thereafter held on to take the three maximum points at stake.

The win was enough to take Inter Milan (29 points) to second spot and within two points of leaders Napoli (31 points) while their hosts stay in the relegation zone with 6 points.
